Travels with Kenzie - July Newsletter

Hey friends!

Happy 4th of July weekend! We’ve had some beautiful Wisconsin weather lately, although it’s been very hot this week. I hope you’re having a great summer so far and enjoying a little time outside.

And if you’re heading out on a vacation soon, I hope it’s full of good weather, fun adventures, and as few travel delays as possible. I’ve got a few travel ideas and tips to help with that below.

Destination Spotlight: Switzerland, Austria, and Italy Road Trip

Andrew and I took this trip in August 2025, and I finally finished the full video. Better late than never, right?

I spent more time editing this video than probably any video I’ve made so far. It follows our entire 10-day road trip through Switzerland, Austria, Liechtenstein, and northern Italy.

We explored the Swiss Alps, mountain villages, scenic lakes, wellness hotels, the Dolomites, and Venice. Basically, the scenery refused to calm down for the entire trip.

I walk through our route day by day, including the hotels, hikes, transportation, costs, planning tips, and a few things that didn’t go according to plan.

Don’t miss the Jungfrau Region, the Stoos Ridge Hike, Lake Braies, Seceda, and Val di Funes. They were some of the biggest highlights of the trip and absolutely worth the trip.

You’ll also find more detailed hotel tours, hiking videos, and destination guides in my full Switzerland to the Dolomites playlist.

I’m working toward 1,000 YouTube subscribers so the channel can eventually earn money. If you enjoy practical itineraries, honest reviews, and watching me attempt to fit an unreasonable number of activities into one trip, I’d really appreciate your subscription. :)

Travel Tip: Book the Morning Flight

Pro tip: When you have a choice, book an earlier flight.

According to U.S. flight data from May 2026, about 13% of flights scheduled before noon arrived at least 15 minutes late. That jumped to 25% for afternoon flights and nearly 31% for evening flights.

In other words, evening flights were more than twice as likely to arrive late as morning flights during the month of May.

Morning flights can still be delayed, of course, but earlier departures tend to have fewer delays built up from aircraft, crew, and weather disruptions throughout the day. They also give you more time to find another flight if something goes wrong.

This matters even more when you’re catching a cruise, tour, or important connection. For those trips, I’d still recommend arriving at least one day early.

You can review official airline on-time and delay data through the U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics.

Where in the World is Kenzie Headed Next?

I’m heading to Richardson Lake for our annual camping trip with a group of my high school friends.

This will be our third year doing the trip, and we choose a new camping destination every year. It’s become such a fun tradition and a good excuse to get everyone together somewhere with fresh air, campfires, and probably at least one forgotten camping essential.

Have you been to Richardson Lake or explored the surrounding area? Hit reply and send me your favorite hikes, viewpoints, restaurants, or hidden gems.

Travel Product of the Month: Medicine Organizer

This little medicine organizer is honestly one of my favorite cheap travel purchases.

I keep one in my travel backpack at all times with basics like Tylenol, ibuprofen, Tums, Pepto-Bismol, and Benadryl. You never know when a headache, upset stomach, or surprise allergy situation will show up halfway through a travel day.

It costs around $5 USD, takes up almost no room, and saves me from carrying several full-size bottles. Just remember to label everything clearly and keep any prescription medication in its original packaging.

Hi friends! I feel like September came and went in about five minutes. I’ve been trying to squeeze in the last few rounds of golf before Wisconsin decides it’s officially winter, while also fully embracing everything I love about fall. The cooler mornings, changing leaves, football weekends, and excuse to spend more time outside make this one of my favorite times of year. I’ve also been spending a lot of time catching up on content from Norway and starting to think ahead to some of the trips...

Hello & Happy September! August was a pretty exciting month around here. We got back from an amazing 10-day trip to Norway, and overall, it was fabulous. We also somehow lucked out with the weather. Norway tends to get quite a bit of rain, but we had several beautiful, sunny days during our trip. I definitely wasn’t complaining! I’m working hard on my Norway vlog now, and I’m hoping to start sharing a lot more from the trip in upcoming newsletters. There’s plenty to come because Norway gave...

Hey friends! Can you believe it’s already August? I definitely can’t! This time of year always feels like the perfect mix of soaking up the last bit of summer and starting to get excited for football, cooler weather, and all things fall. This month, I’m looking back on our Disney trip from spring, getting ready for Norway, and sharing a few travel tips to make your next adventure a little easier. Destination Spotlight: Disney World We recently spent two days exploring three Disney World...
